Access To Private Property
Access to a sufficient number of deer is necessary for the long-term success of any deer management plan. Cooperative relationships with willing private landowners are needed to establish baits sites for deer capture and camera survey sites. We are always looking for new properties that would accommodate traps or drop nets. Frequently deer feeding or sleeping with defined deer trails and brushy areas that provide camouflage (cover) for the deer are very good areas to trap. If you think that your property offers these three characteristics and you would like to be a part of this project, feel free to contact us.
Reporting Tagged Deer Observations
Community members can help researchers locate deer and determine deer activity patterns. Important information to record include the date, time, street address, tag numbers of deer observed, total number of deer in the group, and what activity they were engaged in (e.g. feeding, bedding, walking/running). Your participation will help us to collect important information on deer movements.

Several of the tagged deer do not have radio transmitters and therefore reports are the only way we can document the movements of these deer. Female deer (yellow ear tags) of particular interest would be:
205, 209, 210, 211, 217, 221, 223, 225, 228, 254, 256, 257, 258, 261, 262, 264, 265, 267, & 278.
We are also keeping records for bucks that we capture, ear-tag, and release. These bucks have blue ear tags with numbers that range from B00 to B20. Most of the bucks we ear-tag are fawns that will eventually disperse from the project area.
