Community Deer Advisor Information

White-tailed deer may be locally overabundant in many urban landscapes leading to plant damage, deer-vehicle accidents and tick-borne diseases. Cornell University faculty partnered with The Nature Conservancy staff and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation wildlife managers to create a resource for communities struggling with suburban deer concerns. See this link for more information and resources: https://deeradvisor.dnr.cornell.edu/

Master Gardener Volunteer Information:

The training manuals for Master Gardener  and Master Naturalist volunteers, provide methods for managing wildlife damage, based on applied research, for a variety of different species.  We recommend the latest control techniques within a framework of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and offer strategies for a variety of situations and species.

Several important topics are addressed, including techniques, safety concerns, wildlife diseases, and animal biology. We have adapted the professional manuals to a user-friendly booklet designed for Master Gardener volunteers and homeowners. This booklet focuses on all essential aspects of wildlife damage management (WDM).  To order the booklet, see the NWCTP Store link at:
